Warranty on Dell Outlet PC

I am looking at buying XPS 420 thru the Dell outlet store. However the choice is very limited and a lot of systems do not have a sound card.
What are your comments on buying one of the systems and self installing a good sound card. Am I correct in thinking its reasonably easy to do this.? (I have installed PCI cards of different types in the past).
The other question is if one does this is the warranty invalid. ??
Any comments welcome or has anyone bought one of these systems from the Dell outlet store and what were your experiences.

    Thanks

you would not invalidate a warranty through installing a sound card. the procedure is very easy, it just takes up a PCI slot. But several systems while not having discrete sound card will have surround sound outlets built into the system board.

Do you actually need a dedicated sound card? The HD audio which is standard in most mainboards these days sounds as good for most people, but if you really need one as said installation simply requires sloting the card in a free PCI slot in the computer and then turning of the integrated sound in the computers bios

Thank you for those comments, I was not aware that most systems had on board sound.
I have been considering the Aldi PC that was on sale the 4th August but what turned me off was the lack of a dedicated sound card. This information might make me reconsider the Aldi system which was the MEDION® AKOYA® P34592 (MD 8393) Multimedia/Entertainment PC at €599 without monitor.
It has good reviews in German PC mags but not sure what this brands reliabity is like. However there is 36 months guarantee which can not be bad.

    Thanks

Have yet to hear a bad word about Medion. Cant say the same about dell but then dells also have a much broader market share - it might not reflect their sucess:fail ratio.
