Got a Rover 75 CDTi (04) and the Drivers Airbag light is on permanently.
It's almost 8k miles to my next service. How can I reset this light without having to book it in ? Everything else is 100%.
    Advice appreciated.

How do you know resetting it will cure the problem?

It is probably on cause there is a fault with some component in the system. You'll need someone who has a diagnostic tool to go in and find out what the problem is and fix it.

Otherwise just re-setting it is a waste of time, when it could come back on in 5 mins.

As Dilbert said, the light is on because a system fault has been detected, probably caused by an airbag cable being open circuit or a similar electrical problem or possibly a problem within the airbag device itself. It is not a time based or mileage based signal like a service light on the dashboard.

the airbag light could be on for a few reasons as stated above.
    just a few questions.
have you had the car long.
as the car been valeted lately.
if a car has had a full valet which in-tails the seat to come out to be cleaned. if the ignition is turned on with the seat being removed the airbag light will will come on.
only solution is to take it to a garage and get diagnostic test done which will tell the mechanic the problem.
but the most important thing is please do not ignore it.

check the cabling under the drivers and passenger seat especially if you have manually adjustable seats.

ECU resets after 30 minutes if battery is disconnected. code will be needed after for radio.

The is an FAQ on www.mg-rover.org forum for 75 about entering diagnostic mode on the dash lcd

    Advice noted & Tks, guys.
Is there a place anywhere in Dublin where I could go and wait an hour for them to do the checks and make the adjustments, etc ?
I need the car every day for my work and don't want to have to check it in for a day or whatever. Must be a specialist somewhere who can provide this kind of service or is there ? Here's hoping...../

I would almost bet its the connectors under either front seats. The light will go off without being reset if the fault is fixed. So here is what to do:

    Take out key from ignition
look under drivers seat, grab hold of any wiring connection you can see and really push the connection tight together, if there is any movement in a connection push it in & out a few times to try to fix the electrical connection. Do this on all the 2 or 3 connections under each seat(Dont undo any connection just do as described).
ensure you have done this thoroughly then start car and light may well function perfectly

This is a know problem on many cars but especially the 75 and generally happens when a new owner buys the car as moving the seat oftens causes it.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

We recently had the airbag light coming on in our Rover 75. Turned out to be a faulty sensor in the drivers seat caused by moving the seat forwards and backwards regularly (which we do)

It was diagnosed and fixed by Ryan's in Blanchardstown (formerly a well known Rover dealer) for €78 incl. VAT. Better safe than sorry where airbags are concerned imho

Hello, I own a 00 Rover 75 & can anyone please give me an answer to my question. I bought LED lights for my no plate & LED`s for my front side lights & when i placed them into there holders i was getting a yellow warning blub sign up on dash telling me to replace a blub even tho all my lights were working fine. is there a way of over riding the onboard cpu or any other way of sorting this out please?

The led's work at a lower voltage than regular bulbs, that is why your car is showing a blown bulb message.

BTW this thread is over 4 years old, ask a Mod to move it to it's own thread.

First off - the mods don't tend to like dragging up 4 year old threads :P

Secondly - It's because the power draw by the LED's is much less than that of the original bulbs, so the car thinks the bulb is blown.

One of the users on here (Vectra) soldered the LED bulbs onto the original bulbs, which seemed to work a treat for his car.

Normally LED bulbs are marketed as Non-canbus, or no-error, which would have been ideal to try from the get-go.

Yes get the correct LEDs. NO more warning lights.
