Tell me about your blog. Do you update it regularly or is it just for whenever you have something important to say? Do you know if your blog gets any hits? How long have you been doing it for?

I've had my MySpace one now for nearly two years. It started off as a daily but I had to cut back to once a week.

Not really, I started one once. I gave up soon after.

    Do I ****!

I find it extremely presumptious of bloggers to assume that what they get up to, or what they think about certain things is of any interest to anyone other than themselves.

Nobody gives a **** about what I have to say and vice versa, so I play games.

    Irony. Delicious.

    I have a blog, but I don't update often.

What's ironic? I genuinely don't follow and may be a bit slow on the uptake here.

If i was going to do proper blogs, it would have to be drunken adventures with mates, but they must be approved by others before being put up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

I used to... but the cease and desist letters were getting tiresome.

That bloggers are pretentious for thinking people care what they say, unlike forum users. Or anyone else offering an opinion in any walk of life.

    Ah I'm with you now.

It just seems that blogging is a lot more deliberate whereas posting in forums is more casual or something.

Had one a few years back, but then I decided to stop for a few reasons, namely I was being a ****, sharing too much about myself and those I'd been with, it just got me in trouble *grin*

Stalking is another casual activity. How did your trip to Galway go Mr. Jigsaw?

I didn't go in the end. However, it remains in the to-do list.

Depends on the blog and blogger, tbh.

I'd put it in the same league as creating a new thread. You decide what you want to write about, and if other people are interested they'll join in.

No I don't have one as I do not have much to say.

I have one. I go through creative spurts now and again so it helps.

    Never had a blog!

From reading the thread people seem to be talking about catblogs, and I agree the majority of those are ****e.

Proper weblogs however are great. NOT ones where people tell the world what shoes they were thinking of buying (catblogs) but the ones that are full of awesome news and information. Stuff like rlslog and smashingmagazine.

I blog but its mostly just jotting down certain thoughts about stuff, I started it as a theraputic thing, which is passed now, I might get rid of it...wow, this has been enlightening!!

    THANKS BOARDS.IE!!!

Well I have my Boards blog. With one entry.
Which goes something like "Wow, a blog!"
It was rather early in the morning.

Blogs are like everything else, really: sometimes they're good, sometimes they're shite.

    I don't blog.

I can understand people doing political blogs etc, but I don't understand the ones that yap endlessly about their meaningless lives.

I think they have mild mental problems tbh.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kraggy

No. Think they are pointless and in most cases attention-seeking or for those Americans who like to talk a lot about their feelings, in depth, ad nauseum.

Occasionally they serve a purpose, but in most instances they don't.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,440 ✭✭✭GirlInterrupted

I don't blog because in common with most bloggers, I'm not nearly interesting enough to be worth reading about. But at least I'm aware of it.

Is this an attemplt to find something even half interesting enough to put in your next blog.

    Dear Blog
today I tried to be cool and ask a question on boards.ie but they all made me realise that writing blogs is a way to make me feel important and self obsessed. maybe they're right. or maybe i need to visit a spa, or maybe i am a spa. anyways thanks everyone (3 people) for reading Byeeeeeeeeeee

I can't blog, I tried once thinking it'd be a "cool" thing to try out. Got as far as "Today I...." and gave up. Nothing interesting or important ever happens in my life!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,196 ✭✭✭pyramuid man

    No I dont.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,361 ✭✭✭bythewoods

I used to blog a lot, I then decided that my ramblings weren't really that exciting/ amazing. (After about a year....)

Now I just do it every so often when i have an amazing story to tell. Much like this one really.

Ross Mahon knows the score: used to have a blog about drunken adventures before getting bored of it. Still though, a collection of fantastic nights.

The best blogs usually discuss anything but the writers lives.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,928 ✭✭✭✭rainbow kirby

I have a blog on Livejournal, but it tends to be far more of a "oh look at cool stuff I found on the internet" and chatting to friends rather than emo-whine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,970 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Daily/weekly blogs just seem a little pretentious to me, especially if odne by the average Joe who has done nothing more than go to the shops and got a new outfit.

I prefer commentary pieces on obscure topics rather than what some tool had for breakfast.
