Has anyone done the course? I'm just wondering what it's like (and how the marking is).

I've applied to do it, it seems interesting.

I did it last year and I really enjoyed it and found it was a welcome change from the more direct style of learning found in the sciences with a lot more oppurtunities to get involved in the class. That said there were a lot more arts based students in my class and I know a few of them weren't mad about it (maybe it was just too similar to what they were studying full-time?)

There was about 12-16 people in the class (of which only 8-10 regularly showed up) making it a lot smaller than some other BC courses although I personally preferred this. You get three essays (only 1000 words ;))to do throughout the year but you get five deadlines so there's some flexibility in when you have to do them. Generally one should be on domestic politics, one international and the third from whatever. Aside from that they can be on any topic you want. The marking is fair enough and your overall grade is a mix of attendance and assignments.

Is Rory Costello taking the course again this year?

I don't think he's taking it this year. He emailed me a few weeks back saying he wouldn't be taking it, but his name is on the 08/09 course description, so we shall see.

The course sounds like exactly what I'm looking for though, and will hopefully put to rest my 'regrets' that I didn't do Political Science. Even though it's not a big stretch from Law, it should complement it nicely.
