I know I'm not answering your question, but I'd love to hear some replies from people who have been to a psychologist/therapist/counsellor. I'm in a pretty similar situation to you, depression on off for the last few years, no confidence, and I do want some help at this stage. I'd really like to get a recommendation for someone good to speak to in Cork if anyone could help I'd really appreciate it.

    HI OP.

I'm not going to say much as sharing my experience before got me attacked on this forum.

I will say that going to counselling saved my life anyway and I would highly recommend it. I went for 1.5 - 2 years. I had a lifetime of stuff to work through.

If I hadn't have gone, I would prob be dead today. That or incredibly miserable and messed up.

You do not have to suffer alone. Get the help you need and deserve. You owe it to yourself to be happy.

    Best of luck.
    :)
