Problem with AVG

I am trying to turn on automatic updates for AVG...I'm using version 8.0.138. When I load it up, it says the Update Manager is disabled. So I go in to that section, choose "Start automatic updates", set it to every hour or whatever else, go back and choose Yes to "do you want to save changes?", but when it does that the update manager is still disabled.

Is this just a feature available after you have paid for it or something? Wrecking my head!

You have to buy the pro version to enable the multiples updates per day option, how are you changing the update manager to try it as in mine its disabled. Remove and re-install it and you should find it will be ok.

Or u could just try another free antivirus like Avira Antivir, i think it works better than Avg and it doesn't have that annoying link scanner that u have to turn off on avg, also updates itself daily no problem.
