Transporting Plasma TV's

    Hello,

I bought a new 42" Panasonic Plasma in a large multiple over the weekend and I transported it home in my car in a flat position. I tried to get it in upright on the back seat but it was too long so it had to go into the boot. The sales person said it was ok to transport it on its side once the screen side of the box was facing up. I did this as I was only 10 mins from home but I'm concerned at what potential damage could have been done. I have not opened the box yet as I'm waiting on the delievery of a new unit for it.

Is the upright transport of plasma TV's a best practise for long haul movement? Is this something to worry about.

    Thanks.

If you did transport it screen side upwards, it should be ok. Doing the opposite would crack the glass screen from the pressure of rest of TV on it.

i would not recommend transporting the tv lying down. but it had to be done, if it was a short, smooth trip then its going to be ok.. but for long trips, keep it upright!
