is there a way to avoid this - I'm looking to buy 6 tickets for a gig (not MCD I might add) and the service charge is going to be over 30 lids which is just outrageous.

Try go into an outlet, rather than internet. It still may be done per ticket, but it should be less.

Some events are listed on www.tickets.ie which has a much less booking fee (its also better for the promoters). Also try the Wav ticket box (though its usually just Whelans gigs). 1890 200 078

if you get them in person at a ticketmaster outlet, its 2.25 per ticket but the one in stephens green does not charge any fees, the price on the ticket is the price you will pay.

I've heard that before - is that definitely correct? (before I trudge off to Stephens Green in the rain). I presume TM have to designate one outlet as "the box office" or some such legal mumbo-jumbo....

IIRC, you'll have to pay in cash. I've been stung with the booking fee before at that kiosk, 'cos of paying with a c/c.

Each TM venue has one outlet where there's no service fee. Just find out where that is...

    That's a handy tip, cheers!

went to Stephen's Green this morning, paid cash and there was no service charge. As I was buying 8 tickets this saved me 40 notes - thanks for the help folks.
