    Hey

I have a photography lesson coming up in work. I was wondering does anyone know where or if I can rent an SLR camera? I could bring my point and shoot camera, but Id rather bring an SLR if possible.

    Thanks

Located in Dublin. To save the cost, try and get a lend off a friend!

Thanks helios. I would borrow if any of my mates had a camera.
Paying €50 for a rental isnt ideal, but at least it saves me ruching into a camera purchase.

Does it have to be a DSLR?

You can pick up used SLR Cameras very cheap. I got one recently for free, granted it was only an old Canon but it works. I am using it for B&W film.

I was thinking that. I dont think it does. The topics are

    • Intro to photography (the basics)
    • How to use your camera
    • Simple photography techniques/guidelines
    • Tips to improve your pictures
    • Photoshop overview

but Im sure I can borrow a digital picture for the photoshop.
Im going to have a look at Conn's second hand nont digital SLR range

Also Conn's have a try before you buy. If I end up buying a camera, they will deduct the cost of renting it from it

wether your renting or buyin, you're better off goin for the Digital SLR

Film is too slow for learners, and expensive!

I was thinking that if an SLR was required just for a day, then it may be cheaper than hiring one.

I can lend you my Pentax K1000. Just be aware that it is K1000 and NOT K1000D :-)

Jebus Thonda, if your not being sarcastic thats extremly generous of you. Thanks very much, I wont take you up on it tho, I broke a cup in the sisters kitchen yesterday, and one in my parents house on Sunday. Im sure thats will happen to your cam, when it comes to other ppls stuff, Im a disastor.

Im going to do a bit of research on it, and buy a crap-ish film SLR, with a decent lens, that when I get a bit better at, I can transfer to a Digital SLR

OK, just to be sure that you know what I am talking about. Pentax K1000 is 32 years old 35 mm SLR camera with meter, however without any automatics, so you have to set both exposure time and aperture manually. Not to mention winding the film.
I was partly joking, because I suspect that you will need digital camera. However if the film camera is god for you, there is no problem.

What do you really need, Oxigen?
I own several Minolta/Sony cameras, some of them are for sale, and all of them I could let you for a smaller rent than those you pay in shops. You have the choice of: XD7 (multi-automatic, analogue, manual focus, to let), 8000i (multi-automatic, analogue, autofocus, for sale and to let), SPXi (multi-automatic, analogue, autofocus, for sale and to let), Dynax 700si (multiautomatic, analogue, autofocus, to let), Dynax 7D (professional multiautomatic, digital, autofocus, to let) and Sony alpha K100 (multiautomatic, digital, autofocus, to let). But you should have a third party insurance (I do not want to have my cameras damaged by accident).
If this is of interest for you...
