Both bores of the Port Tunnel now have a chevron about every 100m in each lane. I'm assuming this is for some sort of guide to get vehicles to keep their distance whilst driving in the tunnel.

They are very badly finished lumpy chevrons, that make your tyres go "ba-dong" as they cross over them.

Would that not be the point?

The system is used in UK. Think I remember driving on it on the M56 nr Liverpool. It definitely helps people keep their distance - something that a lot of drivers on the M1 in the mornings could do with learning.

No. It's supposed to be an optical input, not haptic. They fecked it up, is all.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

Keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front: Cars - 50 metres. HGVs - 100 metres.
    ...
Restricted Items are allowed in tunnel but shall only use left hand lane and shall keep a 200. metre distance from vehicle in front.
