On Saturday the 13th and Sunday the 14th of September, Bord Bia, in conjunction with the OPW, will host Ireland’s first ever national independent drinks festival at Farmleigh house and gardens in the Phoenix Park. The festival will feature the very best of Ireland’s independent micro-breweries, cider makers, distillers and liqueur companies. Throughout the event, patrons will have the opportunity to taste and purchase an array of products from the very best of Irelands somewhat “lesser known” but innovative and unique drinks companies, and meet the brewers, distillers, cider and liqueur makers behind the high quality range of products on offer - see here for a listing of the companies taking part.

SeptemberFest offers something for all the family, both young and old alike. With various bands playing on the music stage, to street performers, medieval displays and a lecture series on Irish food and drink history, there will certainly be something to whet the appetite in more ways than one!

Artisan food producers will also be on site throughout the event to feed the masses with their range of hand crafted crepes, quiches, pies, hot dogs, burgers and lots more besides.

The festival will be open each day from 11:00am to 630pm and admission is free. There is limited car-parking available on site as well as an extended bus service which runs throughout the Phoenix Park and includes numerous stops at Farmleigh.

For further information please contact: liam.kelly@bordbia.ie or tel 01 6142254

I'll certainly try to make an appearance, looks good. Won't know when until closer to the time though.

Tragically (for me), this event clashes with the European Beer Festival in Copenhagen that weekend. It does mean, however, that innocent people can roam the grounds of Farmleigh freely, secure in the knowledge that Ireland's hardcore beer geeks are two countries away.

Well, except for oblivious, but I'm sure you can handle him.

Anyway, it's great that this is happening and I hope they make it a regular gig.

Can't believe they organized it for the same weekend as the European Beer Festival, someone dropped the ball there.

I don't want to miss this. Remains to be seen, however, if I can make it. Thanks for the tip, Des!

Just back really good day out and a load of beer :) If have not try cask conditioned beer, this is a really go opportunity to try some. there is a good range of porter and stouts ironic considering its on the grounds of the Guinness estate

My recommendation, of what i got to try

Clotworthy Dobbin Ale, Whitewater (cask conditioned), bottle will be appearing all across Ireland in the next few weeks:)

Porter house plain (cask conditioned) maybe on sale cask conditioned in the near future :D

Messrs Maguire imperial porter (cask conditioned), also white gypsy is planning to do some oak barrel (America and French) conditioned of their imperial porter, sweet

O'hara celebration stout (cask conditioned), really nice big stout and so different to Guinness

    Galway hooker

Beoir corca dhuibhe Beal ban (cask conditioned)

I thought the Beal Ban tasted like washing up liquid, v. soapy

There was a lot of yeast sediment in it alright, probably miss handling of the cask and I though they may have added excess Calcium chloride to their brewing water.

I was there, but didnt even get to sample everything. Some really nice beers, especially the range from Mssrs Maguire, and Galway Hooker. Anyone try any of the cider there? Hope they do it again next year.
