Thinking of going to Galway city for a night/weekend at end of Sept...what should I check out?

spend a while in salthill anyway, you can pass a few hours strolling the beach, playing the slots or swimming at leisureland water park, frequent buses from eyre square.

the galway shopping centre on the headford road and eyre square shopping centre are the two main shopping meccas :D

in terms of pubs, kings head offers free rock bands every night, taaffes and the quays offer more traditional music (though upstairs in the quays is rock), Neachtains is probably the most famous pub in town, bars like monroes, front door, living room are well worth a visit.

the biggest clubs in town are central park (known locally as cps), the gpo, cuba and karma.

some of ireland best scenery is within easy distance of the city, if you don't have your own wheels there are loads of tour companies

cliffs of moher and burren tour http://www.lallytours.com/tourbur.html
    connemara tour http://www.galway.net/pages/oneachtain-tours/connemara.shtml

a day trip to the aran islands from galway city is easily accessible by either ferry or plane http://www.arandirect.com/

If you like a Guinness then make sure to check out Murphy's and Freenys, old style pubs with great pints.
