OK so ive tried searchin around but couldnt find anythin like this
Feel free to correct me if im wrong?

Im thinking about my first aeg.
I want the TMg36c a beautiful lookin piece of kit youll agree

But Im worried that the short barell (275mm as opposed to~500mm for standard M16?) will leave me outranged in a skirmish.
I shud be playin in dulin area and im wonderin will it be worth gettin?

would it be worth splashin out on a TM M14 to ensure the proper range, or a Jg G3 ras maybe? the thing is I really want the G36 it just looks great.

Ps. i know about the upgrade to change the 36c to a 36k( longer barell basically) but i would have to save up for quite a while before i could afford it, not to mention it puts the overall cost of the gun up by ~150E

Barrel length wont affect range at all.

wow that was straight to the point!!!

ok well i hope your right thanks!

    Yup.

The energy rating of the aeg and your hop up settings affect range, all airsoft guns in Ireland are legally limited to 1 joule of muzzle energy, so we all have the same range essentially.

I have a G36C myself - with proper care and maintainance, correct hop-up adjustment and a well-tuned spring, you'll have as good a range and accuracy as anything else on the field, not least because in theory everyone has the same power limit, so it doesn't matter if you have a pistol or a sniper rifle, the theoretical distance limitation is the same. Shorter barrels do affect accuracy though; you're unlikely to have the same ability to hit something reliably at long range as with something with a very long barrel, but that stands to reason. You've instead got a short, lightweight gun which is excellent for CQB.

I dunno about the TM G36c but i do have the JG one, its probably got the best range and accuracy of all my rifles and that includes a few pretty expencive pieces of kit. the barrel s pretty short compared to some but its still a brilliant gun,
I took it to gtac with me at the first gathering and was quite funny when a few people said "wow, the range on that thing" compared to their larger and more expencive rifles., :D

Ah i see so i'm more likely outgunned by the accuracy.
well that just means ill need that drum mag and bipod after all eh

One other thing though has anyone tried the 36k upgrade it looks nice I would prob get that first cept I cant stand the integrated optics.

first things first there are all exceptions

for me a hop up is one of the best ways to add range, a longer inner barrel will help towards accuracy and consistency of shot (further increased by adding a tight bore barrel).

Know this increase in accuracy over range does increase the 'effective range' of your aeg, difficult to explain, an mp5 and a m14 may be able to put a bb out to the same range a 1j but he mp5 could have a spread of 1meter at 50feet where as the m14 might have a spread of 10cms at that range (this are completely random numbers but the principle is sound)

JG make a K type only without the optics, it has the 36c rail instead.,

Yeah I understand that alright it makes sence
But with enough bb's that 1 meter spread can become full of little 10cm ones hehe

all depends on the type of games you play, for milsim with midcaps i will take the lower spread for open play anyway day :)

JUst wonderin if an aeg was close to 1J could the tight bore barrel put it over the limit. and if so how easy/expensive is it to downgrade or is it worth it?

Edit: sorry im goin on a bit but just saw on cobraairsoft i think and it said that the Jg G36c/k fires at 350fps how does one deal with this? will i have to get one from eirsoft or can online retailers downgrade before they ship?

a tightbore will give a small encrease in fps, its not likely to jump much though.,
as for downgrading them, the G36 is a pretty handy gun to strip but a lot of people have problems with the trigger mech when reassembling them,
also, if you import it yourself without getting it downgraded from the shop it might end up getting destroyed by the cops.,

yeah i had thought of the customs all right, thats why i was wonderin could you get it downgraded before shipping.

depending on the device and the make/model of barrel i've experience fps increase from bellow 10 to just under 30, easily enough to put you over if you aeg is on the 1j limit with the standard barrel

If you really want to increase the barrell length you can buy an extension kit from rsov for relatively cheap (I think around €20/€30).

There are two versions "long" & "short". I bought the "short" version for my G36c, it extends the barrell & handguard by about 5 inches...purely for the look/feel and to make it stand out a bit from the other G36c out there.

    It's really easy to install/un-install

Isn't that just an outer barrel/foregrip extension? Be careful about that, because extending the outer barrel will make no difference (it's just for appearance and protection).

yeah i noticed that alright all of the extension kits supply only the outer barrel. they have both 36k and normal36 inner barrels on airsoft global. they go i think from 275(36c) to 370(36k) to 480ish(36)

what is the typical range of an aeg? would sniper, pistols and assault pretty much be the same range. I realise the range on each is dependant on muzzle energy.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Masada

yeah theres not a lot between them, the aegs and sniper rilfes would be able the same, accuracy is where the difference is most notable though.
