I have a sony vaio (cr series)

    The sound isnt working...

I've always had some slight problems with the sound in that when i re-open the laptop after it has been in "sleep mode", the sound often doesnt work.....but its perfectly fine once i restart it, not this this time though!

However....i know the speakers are not broken because when i restart the laptop, it WILL play the start up tune (???)....but as soon as i log into my account, the sound ceases to work again...

I went into the sound settings on the control panel and according to that, there is no problem...

    Help please!!!? xxx

This mightn't be much help but sometimes the sound on this laptop stops working too. I found that uninstalling the card in device manager and then re-installing using the "install new hardware "in control panel works. Dunno why its happening tho!! Try it.

You don't realy give enough info for help. Full model number? Operating system etc?

Try putting your model number into google with "sound hotfix" after it. Used to be an issue in XP on one of my Sony note books.
