Better to quit or be fired?

Im on my 6mth probation in a company. I cant stand my immediate supervisor, he treats me like a personal secretary (which im not) asking me to do things that are nowhere near my job description. And its demeaning things.
I'm pretty sure i wont be kept on after my probation is up (i have my reasons for thinking this, but i wont go into it...but just know its not my performance,i am a good worker and never been let go before), so im just wondering is it best to quit now....or wait til my probation is up , which is soon enough, and as i expect, be fired. My thinking is that at least if i get fired i can apply for dole straight away to tide me over while im searching for a new job, cos who knows how long it will take in the current climate.
However if i quit, then this would be better when looking for a new job as i wont have to tell any prospective employer that i was let go.

Just looking for some opinions/advice on what would be best to do. :(

What feild are you in EG IT and what company are you working for. Each will determine what the next best step is.

Fair enough the name isnt really necessary actually I was just really wondering if it was one of the big names but from what your saying I assume its below 50 employees or something.

What form of IT they in as it might tell you a type of work that you may want to avoid in future.

Start looking for a new job now. If you're lucky you'll sort out a better job and won't have to waste more time in the dead end job. Most interviewers won't have a problem with someone getting out after a few months so long as they explain that the job really wasn't advertised, they don't directly moan about the company too much and they aren't making short stays a habit.
