Anyone gotten this? The mail address seems legit but am always wary of mails asking for extra identity and it's a bit out of the blue

    Your account requires attention

    Dear Robert,

NETELLER is required to perform periodic reviews on all Extended accounts to ensure we have up-to-date records on file. We have reviewed your account and we require some additional identity information from you.

To ensure your account remains open and to continue enjoying NETELLER’s services, simply validate your account before November 1, 2008.

To learn more about this initiative, check out our latest news story.

    How to validate your account
Validating your account is simple. All you need to do is email two documents to validate@neteller.com.

Just follow these 3 easy steps and we’ll do the rest.

    1. Verify your identity
Provide a digital photograph or scanned colour copy of your government–issued ID card, driving license or passport that clearly displays:

    * Document number (ID number, license number, passport number), your full name and date of birth
    * No black/blurred portions (all details must be in focus)
    * All four corners of the document (i.e. no cropping)
    * Expiry date that has not passed
    * Front and back of the ID card or license

    2. Verify your address
Provide one digital photograph or scanned colour copy of a paper utility bill or paper bank card/credit card statement that clearly displays:

    * Your name and address
    * An issue date within the last 3 months
    * All four corners of the bill/statement (i.e. no cropping)

Acceptable utility bill statements include landline phone, heating, water, electricity, cable TV, internet and municipal government correspondence.

    3. Email your digital photos or scans as attachments to validate@neteller.com.
You must send these items to us using the email address registered with your NETELLER account or we will be unable to process your documents. Click here to see samples of acceptable documents.

Email neteller about it, not using the address quoted. Were details of your account in the mail bar your name?

Go to netteller's own site and email an address given there that is not the same as the one above.

forward the email to neteller & ask them to verify it

Just got the exact same mail. A little wary of it

Got the same one - what a pain if this is something that is really required, doubt I'll be using Neteller again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,461 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I just got the same one as well, but weirdly it went into my spam box and all my neteller ones have always been in the inbox.

I have sent them all these documents when I first opened my account so thread carefully, this could very well be dodgy.

Edit to say that all my inbox mail was from support@neteller.com this one just says Neteller.

They have a link to it on it's front page so seems it might be legit but I have sent it to them anyway just to make sure and ask why they need more verification

I would have thought having my account connected to my AIB bank account for over a year was enough.

Seems legit but I may just withdraw as I can't be arsed with that type of service.

Same here,I have not used Neteller in a while but it was nice to have as an option.I am not going through all this hassle incase I need to use Neteller down the line.

I use the Neteller Card and it is one year old next month.

Last week, someone from Neteller called me and wanted the answer to my security question. I wanted to verify, that the person is from neteller and she gave me the first correct letter to my sercurity answer.

The neteller Card will be invalid after one year and they wanted to get the same documents (Address validation and personal id card scans) and sent an email after the call. I also asked to mailsender to verify her account, not be replying, but inserting the ...@neteller.com mailaddress and it was a successful verification.

They check the validation for the account obviously every year, if your neteller account has higher state.

    Greetings

OK I just sent my stuff. If I get scammed I'm coming after you!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,097 ✭✭✭✭zuroph

i got something similar from paypal once i went over 1300 in transactions, its some EU law that they need to have verified the info to combat money laundering.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 663 ✭✭✭CourierCollie

    Sorry about the bump.
Just got the same netteller email today. Looks like I have to send them the same id I sent less than a year ago. Ho-hum.
I assume if anyone was scammed they would have already posted about it here.

    Thank you for choosing NETELLER.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,201 ✭✭✭Macspower

I feel left out as I never got this mail.... Neteller is still working fine for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,696 ✭✭✭Hectorjelly

I got a similar mail to this, only problem is it went to my spam a/c and I ended up having my account closed for a week before they sorted it out. They wanted me to explain my transactions. Pretty stupid of them not to work out im a poker player at this stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,004 ✭✭✭pok3rplaya

    It's legit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,120 ✭✭✭shrapnel222

just got the same mail . FYI another bank has opened targetting online gamblers, it's called www.ivobank.com, i haven't looked into it much as to be fair, i'm not playing a whole lot these days, and my active poker accounts are healthy. There was an article about them here, so if anybody has time to investigate the T&Cs, it might be of interest to most people here

Ah sure its bound to look suspicious if your regularly withdrawing monies instead of just depositing:pac:.
I got a 2nd email from them today, telling me they sent one a month ago and I must respond. They didn't(It was 24 hours ago). And I'm tempted not to.

got a second one aswell when I tried to withdraw money, I aint doing it until the deadline they set unless they close my acc./put a stop on my transactions but they havent so far.

Does anyone know if a garda ID counts as a valid goverment ID?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭Ste05

Yeah I got the reminder, I suppose I better send in the stuff, but I'm such a lazy bastard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,201 ✭✭✭Macspower

are you mail getters on standard accounts or extended accounts?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 309 ✭✭SuperHans

First sentence of the mail: "NETELLER is required to perform periodic reviews on all Extended accounts to ensure we have up-to-date records on file. We have reviewed your account and we require some additional identity information from you."

Doesn't specify anything about standard accounts so you might be ok.

    thanks Hans,

Did anyone have any problems with the documents being cropped? My scanner wont fit all of the utilty bill I sent them, a bit ofthe top is missing. Are the going to be real anal about it?

I'd imagine they would be that anal about it. I remember once not having id accepted because a tiny piece of blank paper was cropped from the top. Though I think it was for an individual site, not neteller.

Anyone else send the documents in only to find their account blocked today?
I sent the docs in mid October!
I also got a mail from neteller today wondering where i've been! Sometimes you'd wonder if the right hand knows what the left is doing....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 302 ✭✭HIVeindhoven

FFS, neteller account locked (with some nice monies inside) because i too fkn lazy to send off ID. The ID scans have to be sent from your email also, they wont accept a fax. This will be about the 3rd time i've sent the ID/Prof of address since opening my account 2 years ago. CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNTTTTTTTS

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,307 ✭✭✭ionapaul

Screw 'em - I'm not using them again if I can help it, there are only so many times I can be bothered to photocopy / scan these documents for any one company; Rabodirect and other online banks / brokers only need the info once and that's how customers like it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,881 ✭✭✭bohsman

Havent bothered resending either. Anyone know anything about this ivo bank thing aimed at online players?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 130 ✭✭mick84

    Quick Question.

I just setup a neteller account and currently have no credit card. But I have a laser card with online banking enabled.

Am I right in saying that for me to get money from my AIB online banking account to my netteller account is to tranfser money via "International Bank Transfers" despoit method on neteller ?
