    Hi,

Can anyone tell me if the sports facilities in Trinity offer pay as you go prices or do you have to be a member?

If you are a student, then the gym membership is included in your fees (you dont have a choice). so basically when you get your student card, you can come and go from the gym as you please.

I'm not certain what the criteria is for non trinity people, but I know of people who are simply members and not in trinity studying. People like this can either pay yearly membership or pay-as-you-use kind of thing... But i'd rather they didn't, the trinity gym is tiny and s**t enough as it is, last we need is more people hogging the weights

From what I recall of Sept '07 registration, there's a compulsory fee (75 euro?) as part of general college registration. I've only used the swimming pool so I don't know what sort of charges apply to other activities, if any. It's 10 euro for a lock for the pool area.

Thanks - Im just checking as Im a student at NUIG. We just got a very nice sports centre built but we're not allowed to use anything in it unless we pay for a whole years membership.

Which is a disgrace in my opinion.

How much is the NUIG gym a year then? I dont really understand why people give out about college gym fees, they are nothing! think it was 125euro for the year in Trinity.. I used pay 90euro A MONTH for my old gym before comming to college! Sure the facilities are not as good, but still it has all you need.

Its 250 for students for the year, which is very good. Especially as the facilities are great.

The only problem I have is that students should be able to pay per session. Not everyone is here for a whole year. And we already pay some money towards it from the student levy. Its not really comparable to other gym, non-student situations.

250 is alot I suppose for a student gym.

Anyway, you can use the TCD gym on a pay-as-you-go basis. It used to be 2euro a go in the old gym, no idea what it is now, couldn't be more than 5euro I dare say. And that gets you use of everything (gym, pool, sauna etc)

Speaking of the sauna, fell asleep in it the other day, was woken up by the pool attendant. Probably thought I was dead!
