Improve colour on laptop screen ?

    Hello,

I've recently bought a Dell studio 15 laptop which I'm reasonably happy with however I notice when I'm looking at photos on it, some of the colours appear quite washed out in comparison to my old CRT monitor. It's particularly noticeable in clouds in a blue sky and black and white photos. It's a 15.4" Wide Screen WXGA (1280 x 800) Display with 'TrueLife'.

I know this is an issue with lots of flat screen monitors, but I'm wondering if there is a way to improve the colour somehow. Are there are any settings for the laptop screen similar to what you would find on a standard monitor by pressing the buttons on it (contrast, saturation ect.) ? I'm also aware that Vista has a new colour management system which I could use to apply a colour scheme for the screen. I haven't a clue how to use that though. Alternatively I think there might be colour settings in the ATI display configuration programme which I could play around with.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you solve it ?
