Student Loan for UK

    Hey

I have been speaking with a few UK students that talk of a student loan that does not have to be paid until you graduate and can afford it. Its not a bank loan that you would have to repay straight off. [edit] just found out its the "student loan company" for UK students only [/edit]

Is there something like this in Ireland? are banks and credit unions the only options for loans?

    Thanks for your help

    Hey there,

Yeah, most of the funding available from banks in the RoI is for small loans for Education, I'm unsure why exactly they don't offer larger amounts. It is possible if you or your parents (or guardians, who I assume would have to guarantee such amounts) have a good relationship with a bank that you might be able to get additional funds.

    Thanks Myth

I don't understand how the banks expect you to pay back the loan straight away if you are still at college. Sort of defeats the purpose of a student loan .. meh ... who needs college anyway!
