    Hi all.......looking for advice.I`ve just been told I could get let go before Christmas due to the downturn and my wages are to much of a expense,that the company could get somebody cheaper than me.My question is,can I be let go and replaced by a cheaper wage doing the same job as me(Just so everybody knows,I`m not talking about being replaced by foreign national)Can anybody tell me if they can do this? Thanks:confused:

    Depends on how long you've been in your position. In general though what they will do is to declare that your position no longer exists and come up with a new role with less responsabilities instead (and hence not hiring someone to replace you in your current position directly).

    Can you give a bit more info. Is your job permanent or contract? If it's contract then what's the duration?
