My thesis is due on the 29th of August, nearly done thank god! But I was wondering how long I should allow for binding? Do i need to book somewhere... I assume they don't just do it on the spot? Knowing me I'll be binding it on the day (Friday)... is that crazy/dangerous?

At least there is light at the end of the tunnel... thesis will finally be finished!!!!:D

If you are in Dublin, the Thesis Centre give a 5 hour turnaround, but you will pay extra.

Don't leave it until the last minute - allow at least two days. The Thesis Center allow you to either e-mail it into them, or print it out yourself and hand it in.

It's a great feeling when you hand in for binding. :)

Thanks for that, was thinking that doing it on the day might be a bit dodgy.

Any idea of how much more you pay for five hour tunraround (ball park:D), or even how much it is well in advance? (Thesis should be about 100 pages)
Am in Dublin, so thankfully will have some sort of choice of where to go...

40euro to get it done in 5 hours as opposed to 32euro for 48hours. Happy days! Not too bad. That'll give me an extra bit of time.....

No idea. It's been a while since I needed to avail of their service. :)

Here's a crazy idea - why not have a look on their website? You just never know, it might have some prices on it. :p

There's not a huge amount of info there, if you want more specific information, call them up, they are very friendly (got my initial submission of my phd thesis bound there and there were no problems).

I have a dissertation due in on Monday (3pm) and whilst I am nearly finished it (just editing it at this stage) I would like to have the maximum time available to me if possible.

Just looking on a few websites of places that do binding, they are all only open Monday till Friday. I don't really want to leave it till the day its due in (unless soft binding is a quick process), but at the same time, I don't want to bind it on Friday, knowing that I have an extra two days to keep polishing it?

So, I guess my questions are:

    - Does anyone know of any place that does soft binding on the weekend?

    - How long does it take for soft binding? I mean, would it be reasonably safe to hit the thesis center at 9am Monday morning, with the deadline being 3pm that day.

    http://reads.ie/services/laminateetc/binding/index.html

I paid around 35 euro in 2005 in the Thesis Centre, that was overnight or 48 hours, I think.

If what you mean by soft binding is just a spiral bind then it shouldn't take more then 10 minutes, in The Thesis Centre anyway.
I'll be getting mine done the morning its due there. Was told would only take a few minutes.
Its totally different to a hard bind.
    Costs €7.

Well on the guidelines we were sent it said that we must submit 3 hard copies, which must be bound, then in brackets it says (soft binding is fine) so I assume I can get done what you are talking about.

Found out that Reads also do it, but would I be better off spending the extra few quid on the thesis center?

I dunno if there'd be much difference. It's up to you. The Thesis Centre obv specialise in it so that's why I'll go there. I'm sure Reads would be fine though.

Yeah, I think you're right. rang them and they said it would only take 5 mins, so the Thesis Center it is.
