    Hi

I have a spare TM Desert Eagle mag, which is leaking gas pretty badly.

The leak is somewhere around the gas valve on the top end of the mag. I have pushed the pin, and taken off the top piece plastic piece but I havent been able to go any further.

As per usual, sprayed a ton of silicon oil down it to see if it will have any effect, but nothing so far :)

Does anyone know if its possible to take one apart further?

    cheers

    t.

and by further searching, illumination is achieved.

so i heated the mag top with a hairdryer for a few seconds, and it stopped leaking (as per previous posts here, which I found), and after cooling back down, it also seals when you hold a fingertip to the brass relief valve on the side of the mag for a couple of seconds.

so its a pretty close tolerance.

So my question now becomes is there any way to properly fix this, as it seems to be a thermal issue with the metal construction of the mag.

Also, will this leak when in a pistol that cools down? I'm guessing so

and to the final answer (and this probably works for a lot of different gbb mags - I took a look at WE, some KWA, Army and some generic gbb pistol mags).

Note: Make sure to completely empty the mag of gas before you try this - if you break something, its on you!

On the DE mag, you disassemble from the bottom plate upwards.

The Bottom plate is held in place by a plastic slug which is also the holder for the mag spring. This can be pushed back into the base plate of the mag, allowing the base plate to slide forwards and off (same for most glock gbb mags I looked at, for a we 1911, its two pins towards the bottom on the side of the mag).

Once the plate is out of the way, there is a philips screw head. Remove this screw - its kinda long.

Then, at the top end of the DE mag, there is a single pin just underneath the gas port.

Push this pin through, and the plastic top piece of the mag comes off in a forward direction.

The metal top piece including the blow off valve then slides out of the mag body.

In my case, I simple had to use a large screwdriver to tighten the top valve collar about 1/6th of a turn, and the mag sealed right back up.

(and whie this is new to me, I am aware it isnt new to some, so I hope this helps someone)

    Cheers,

    T.

If tightening the screw at the base does not work, you can pull the top section of the magazine out and wrap the rubber seal with teflon tape and reinsert it.
