Freeview issue

A couple of months ago I bought my parents a Freeview box for their holiday home in Gorey. On Saturday I went to Gorey to set it up. There were quite a few channels missing and I don't know why. There was no BBC4, no ITV 1, 2, 3 but there was ITV 2 +1, No E4, No C4. I was getting BBC3, Film 4 and various others, I'd say I was getting less than half.

The box is a pretty cheap one, I got it on eBay for very little, could it be a box issue, the weather or an aerial not pointing the right direction? #

    Thanks.

    Thanks for the reply. :)

    It's a 'techwood' I think

    http://www.reevoo.com/browse/product_type/freeview_set_top_boxes/product_brand/Techwood

I bought a cheap one to see if freeview definitely worked. Could this be the problem?

In my opinion i think its the aerial, and the type of box has very little or anything to do with it! Id say your very lucky to be getting any reception at all with the box!

Must be picking up freeview reception from Wales, unless places like three rock and mount leinster are broadcasting English freeview channels!

It's Gorey, it's quite common to get Freeview there from Wales, that's why I decided to try it. I get picture perfect channel 5 so the aerial isn't the problem unless I need one pointing another direction too.

The weekend I tried it (13 Aug) was the super rainy one. Could it have been the weather?

RTE DTT tests from Mt Leinster are co-channel with some of the Freeview MUXs from the Welsh transmitter you are using and so is obliterating them.
