Where the best/cheapest place to buy official Rayban sunglasses on the internet? Specifically Wayfarers and Aviators.

If anyones ordered from a website for a decent price I'd like to hear! :pac:

Sunglass Hut in town have them so definitely try them first and decide what you like. I wanted Wayfarers but they didnt suit my face, so I got RB3342 Aviators which look immense. However no bargains in that place so my advice is to try a few out and get the code for the one you like and go online for a gander. Not sure on any good sites myself but if you're paying less than 100eur for a pair they're probably fake, especially stay away from eBay. RayBan are a great brand so stay away from the fakes

Do they come in different sizes?

Wayfarers come in a small size and normal size I think.

Cheers for the tip, I'm defo going to try them on in town first then go online to get the best price. I see asos.com have the Wayfarers for 160/170ish. Is this a good price?

I knew they were expensive but thought they'd be around 120ish?

wayfarers are about 160 euro in sunglass hut, pointless buying them off asos tbh.

i love my wayfarers and my aviators, can't beat ray bans tbh use them way more than my oakley sunglasses.

It depends on the lens as well sometimes, my Ray Bans come in 4 different colours, but only the "gunmetal" style for mine is only for the Ray Ban P version, the p stands for polarised lens (better for reflecting light). Mine were 50 eur more than the other styles. Not sure if Wayfarers are polarised but you'll know by the logo on the top of the right lens. I think the Wayfarers come in kids size and adult, also most of their styles are unisex

I got my Wayfarers in Brown Thomas for €127.

yeh i have polarized aviators as well couldn't live without them tbh they are my favourite pair by far.

i'm not sure - don't quote me on this - but i think there are two adult sizes for wayfarers as well as the kids sizes.

Had a look in sunglasses hut there this morning. Tried on the Wayfarers, they were OK... then tried on the Aviators....

    aviatorscopyzs7.jpg

They were the business alright. The mirrored lenses looked pretty slick.

192.50 though!! I left them, thought it was a bit steep. I'm sure you can get the same/similar pair cheaper elsewhere?

For anyone else interested in Wayfarers.... they were €165 in sunglasses hut.

Hah, those are actually the exact ones I got, they're in the Dark Knight too in the Hong Kong scene with Bale  They're available in 3 different colours aside from that though and the rest aren't polarised and cost around 149. They're called Ray Ban Warrior Aviators and the code is RB3342 004, the 004 referring to the style, "Gunmetal"

    Cheaper on this site

Been doing some homework and I've discovered that vision express have some very good offers at the moment. Half price on designer shades. This includes only selected brands, but they have Armani, Diesel and SOME raybans.

Unfortunatly neither the Wayfarers or the Aviators come into this offer, but they are still WAY ahead of sunglasses hut on price. They're both around the 120 mark

I got two pairs of rayban aviators on ebay one in black and one of the really shiny silver mirror ones that are like €130 in brown thomas. I got one pair for about €20 and the other for about €15. And you can say what u like about ebay but both pairs were completley genuine. They arrived perfect with ray ban case and cleaning cloth and I compared them with my bf's ones, he had paid the full whack for his black ones and they were identical down to the little RB marked in the corner of one of the lens. I love em and they have a good selection of them on the site.

You can say what you like indeed about Ebay, but I'll definately say the ones you got are fakes. Many fakes these days aren't made of flimsy plastic etc with words mispelt etc. They look like the real thing which is why many companies such as sunglass and luxury handbag manufacturers employ people to work along side trading strandards and our equivalent to spot them. A normal person in the street such as yourself wouldn't without being trained what to look for.
At €20 and €15 I seriously doubt you're are genuine and if they are, they're stolen. When it comes to protecting your eyes against the sun I wouldn't trust a lens that comes at that price, never mind a frame and lens inclusive.

I used to borrow my bf's ones before I got my own and they are the exact same lens, they feel the same when I wear them, to look through the lens you would never notice any difference.
They came with a guarantee, the material is the same, I have had them for ages now, they havent broken, I havent been blinded!! I have gotten lots of stuff off Ebay and they have all been brilliant, I have had no complaints and I know several people who use the website and have never had any problems.
If you are too cynical to believe that you can actually get some bargains on the net thats your problem. And as for the not trusting a lens to protect your eyes if they are that price?? what about the thousands of different sunglasses on sale in all the high street stores that people buy everyday for less than €20?? I havent heard of nyone being scarred for life so far.....
I think I will stick with what I have and leave it to yourself to spend €130 plus on the same ones just for the privilege of buying them from a posh shop.

can you post a link to the ebay store where you bought them? wouldn't mind checking them out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

They are all from different sellers though.

Can you go back through your ebay history and find the name of the seller for me?

    Thanks.

this is the seller I bought my mirrored ones from, thename should be on the left of the page. My boyf got me my black ones as a present off ebay and im not sure what the name of that seller was or if it was the same as mine. If you look under the name it will tell u whether they got good feedback from buyers or not . this one has 100% positive feedback which usually means good product and quick delivery , i found that with mine anyway

A fashion board I frequent has a thread for sussing out ebay fakes or not so I'll pass it onto them. The prices are very very cheap though which definitely means fake or more likely stolen, why would you sell them at such low prices if they were the real deal? Either way I'll see what they think but if you're happy with the quality then obv thats all that matters

Update - Faaaaaake, like most things on eBay

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 238 ✭✭Enda89

yeah, for 15 quid you can assume they're fake.

Even stolen Ray-bans wouldn't go THAT cheap.

Mind me asking what fashion board this is? Would be very interested in viewing the section on eBay fakes as I buy a lot of stuff off of eBay.

    Cheers! :)

Fuk.co.uk, though I'll warn you straight off that they're complete tossers to new members

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

yup they are fake, rayban do not put stickers on their lenses as it could lead to potential damage.

the rayban logo on the left lens (the one that actually says ray ban) is a giveaway, the 'b' in ban is totally off, also the screws on the frame hinges on ray bans are phillips head screws where as these ones are flat head.

I think aviators look **** to be honest

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,418 ✭✭✭Jip

Looks like I'm not the only cynic around here. Even with the cheap glasses you see in high street stores you're not always getting a decent lens, many are just fashion glasses rather than sunglasses, you should always check the lens rating to see how much UV light they block, alot of cheap ones block less than 50% UV light.

I got a pair of Rayban aviators of the Ray-Ban site for €86 (not incl. p&p).

There's also a virtual mirror thing on the website.

And this is also a good site for various sunglasses brand links

i heard the cheapest place in dublin to get them was brown thomas, i don't know tho if they have a wide range of colours ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,478 ✭✭✭padi89

If they are just for fashion they will do the job as for optics Ray Ban are very poor in comparison to their competition. In other words if your buying a pair for fashion just get the fakes, otherwise buying genuine your paying for a lens that is only so so.

I got my pair of genuine Aviators on ebay in and around the €80 mark in the last year or two. They taken some beating too in the time I've had them and still are great nick.

Ebay is the best value, they're genuine if you make sure you buy them from a retailer on there, I got a fab pair of Wayfarers last year for cheaper, and then I lost them two days later, gutted! They were gorgeous while I had them though :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 78 ✭✭shezza

Im just back from Portugal and all sunglasses shops had raybans for 79euro aviators were 100 I didn't have enough money to justify a pair but if you know anyone heading to Algarve you could get the code and ask them to purchase for ya. I seen at least 3 shops with a huge ad in the window with the offer.

If you get laser eye surgery from Optical Express you get 20% of sunglasses. You just have to pay €4000 for the surgery first!!!!!
