(I never knew how much I needed a 580 EX Speedlite II). 275 photographs and not one red eye amongst them. So cool.

I generally - where possible - bounce the flash off the ceiling. Where this is notpossible (eg, outside, where nothing to bounce flash from), is there any way to reduce the amount of reflection from people's faces, and if there isn't, what is the quickest and easiest way to fix it in Photoshop?

Get a diffuser, they're cheap as chips and do a world of good.

No idea how to fix it in photoshop but use anything you can to bounce the flash if you are outdoors, you can even use other people to bounce the flash off!

A diffuser is the only job.
You could even make one yourself.

Iv got one like that for my sigma!
I know there are alot of different one and you can make home made ones etc but that does the job

Allthough im sure the 580ex has a little bounce card built in or something? So you card bounce it at an angle and the card will act as a wall etc

use the bounce card or get a stofen diffuser. Stofen are the best as the reduce power by about 1 stop.

I use the stofen diffuser almost permanently with good results.

Okay, I was using the bounce card, but it occurs to me I could have swivelled the flash.

    Known for the next time.

    thanks.

Actually looking at adding a SB800 flash to my inventory soon and came across the Gary Fong Lightsphere II as an add on for the flash.

    Has anyone used one ?

I got a cheap eBay Lightsphere copy to use on my SB600 Speedlite and I love it.

I get lovely soft diffuse light that even covers the wide angle of my Sigma 10-20!:D Rarely comes off the flash indoors and sometimes used for fill flash outside. I can't remember which seller I bought from, but they're not hard to find, definitely worth a punt for €20 odd.

I hope Gary Fong is better at making difusers than he is at photoshop

anyone else reckon there's something seriously suspect with her right hand side

I certainly wouldn't fancy getting a dig off her anyway.

I have one of those gadgets, they look like a salad bowl on top of your flash, but do actually work.
If I were to spend again I'd go for a Joe Demb Flip It.
