Sony Vaio CR

    I was thinking of getting a Sony Vaio CR 2.4GHz Dual 2 Core, 250HHD, 4GB of RAM but the only colours that they come in with that spec is blazing red and champagne gold.

    I wanted either a matte black or indigo blue so I checked on the US site and they have an option to customise your laptop with any colour and any specs (goes upto 2.6GHz Dual 2 Core and 320HDD).

    My question is, would it be possible to purchase a laptop online from the US site (it doesn't give 'choose a country' option, I already checked) and if not does anybody know if Sony Europe are planning to do a similar customisation feature on their website in the near future (or bring out more CR's with higher specs)?

    no the US site will not ship outside the US for many and varied business practice reasons. even if you shipped it to say, me, it would still cost an extra hundred+ euro in shipping. blazing red could be cool though.

    I'll probably end up with the blazing red anyway because the specs for the indigo blue drop severally (from 2.4GHz to 2.1GHz, 250HHD to 200HHD & 4BB RAM to 3GB RAM etc) and the price is only €150 cheaper.

    I just don't like the black keyboard intergraded with the black panelling on the blazing red, I'd much prefer the silver keyboard that is on the indigo blue & matte black (see below).

    Also on the US site a customised CR with the best possible specs comes out to around $1800 (with matching mouse & carrier bag) which is approximately €1200. In Ireland you wouldn't get much change from €2k for a similar model, but that's another story for another thread ;)

    Does anybody know if Sony will be bringing out a new range of CR Vaio's or will be giving their European customers the option to customize their laptops like they do in the US? Basically I am looking for the same laptop as this but in a different color (matte black or indigo blue with a silver keyboard would be perfect)

    I noticed a price drop on laptop's in the Sony Center which could indicate that new models are going to be released (btw I did ask a member of staff but they where not much help).

    Does anyone have any info on this?
