RLI - still screwing the pooch after all these years

The RLI 'new look' site has recently gone up (www.rli.ie) and I must say aesthetically it doesn't look too bad. Unfortunately this merely served to lull me into a false and entirely unwarranted sense of optimism. Ah.... a forum I cried! Brilliant a place to discuss all things irish and rugby league...duly registered etc...only to find (shock, horror) that I could neither post messages nor start a thread.

The online 'shop' is productless, would like to get one of those nice new kukri Irish wolfhounds shirts...I've got cash, I will pay...can RLI furnish me with one, can they feck!

Tellingly, links lead nowhere...much like RLIs management of the game in Ireland and there isn't a single irish e-mail contact on the site...utter, utter rubbish

Ireland, this year, can do well in the RLWC, (they can certainly match the performance of their union counterparts in the 07 WC) we've got a good team of solid players many culled from the superleague....you would think that RLI would be seeking to push the game and maximise the publicity around it. If the website is anything to go by RL in ireland will continue to be an also ran, despite an absolutely golden opportunity to raise the game's profile, Instead it's being royally squandered..shame on you RLI!!!

Board is up and running now at least.

What's the story with the World Cup coverage anyway? Sky all the way?

Yep, all Sky unfortunately...I'd hoped Setanta Ireland would carry an Ireland game or two, given that they've got the NRL games, but they don't seem to have acquired any....

    Why "unfortunately"?

I hope Sky advertise the **** of it and BBC give it plenty of mentions around Challenge Cup final day.

Totally Agree, the 'unfortunately' was largely because I had hoped that stations like the Beeb and RTE might have been able to broadcast a few games/highlights packages...anything to raise the game's profile in Ireland.

Would've been nice for BBC to get get it alright, can't expect RTE, Donnybrook to show League!

Still, with the amount of people with Sky Sports if it's advertised right should draw decent figures. I know I'll be asking for it to be put on in pubs and telling all my mates to watch it. :)
