    Hi folks,
Could I have some help please?

I was updating my laptop' anti-virus database when this error message appeared.

I decided to fully re-install the programme, but the problem persists. Essentially, it won't allow an update, so now my laptop is more vunerable that before the re-installation, as the anti-virus was current up to yesterday.

    Thanking you in anticipation.

    Regards,

    Bros

It's not just you, happening to me too since last night :(

Plus, does anyone else find the new AVG (8) needs a lot more attention when updating then the old one? The old one just seemed to do it all itself, the new one you have to right click the red exclamation mark in the system tray, then click update, then a pop up window would show the update, then you'd have to click update on that too. This is pretty much every day. You never had to do this with the old one. Is this just a new feature to annoy you into buying the pro version?

Did you uninstall the existing version before reinstalling?

It's happening to me too. We'll just have to wait until AVG fix the update I suppose

It's only a virus definitions update, not a program update

"It's only a virus definitions update, not a program update"

Does that mean my laptop is more vunerable now, as the virus definition was current up to yesterday, whereas, now the version is much older? Great!

I also have Spybot & Avast running in the background, and now I'm damn glad I Have!

I ran Spybot, no probs reported and Avast is currently running. Here's hoping!

Maybe it'll be ok when they release their next update? Which is usually a daily occurance :)
