I have the link for the website so don't send me that, It just doesn't give enough info! I want to do European studies at NUI Maynooth, How many places are there available per year? And what's it like? Is this possible if I do French, Geography and beginners' Spanish for the first year, then drop Spanish for the next year so at the end of it could i be able to teach Geography and French at secondary school level? or would I have to get another diploma or degree or something?
    Thanks :pac:

I think your better of doing the Arts (MH101) degree for what your looking for, there you can do those subjects for first year and depending on your 1st year result can progress into 2nd year doing French and Geo. You can also do the European studies but its an extra year, if you want to do the teaching at 2nd level i'd say go for the Arts, although European studies could be beneficial if you're looking for other employment also.
I'm not sure on the amount of places per year but i'd say that Arts would have more places than European studies.
    Hope that helps!

Thanks. Do you know if I'd have to do any extra year to get an extra diploma/degree for teaching?

Yep you have to do a Higher Diploma in Education(Hdip) for 1 year to teach at 2nd level i think.

Would I be able to do a HDip in NUI? Do I have to do an interview or exam or something??

There is a grading system passed on a number of competencies you must have. So degree grade, number of teaching hours done, etc.

    What does that mean?!

    *bites tongue*

Degree grade means the grade you achieve in your primary degree. Number of teaching hours is the number of hours you have spent teaching in a school.
