Was just looking at the player stats that were shown before the match, and was suprised to see most players are 13stone plus, and when I saw Brian Dooher is 13stone I just couldn't believe that is right, he looks about 11stone at most. Anyone else think the same?

I think he carries it well, if he is. I think it was discussed on here before about inaccurate player stats like that. He doesn't look 5'9" or 13 stone.

I thought the Tyrone weights/heights looked more accurate than the Dublin ones. Anyway I wouldn't be surprised if there are exaggerations. Last week I saw Diarmuid O'Sullivan listed as 6 foot 2 and 15 stone 7. Now to me he looks a bigger build than that. Maybe he is not as tall as claimed or is heavier (fatter?) than claimed. Or maybe The Rock's stat are accurate and other players are lighter than claimed. Just comparing to Dooher I see more than a 2.5 stone difference between Dooher and O'Sullivan especially if O'Sullivan is 6 foot 2 and Dooher is 5 foot 10.

Yeah, I have to agree with that players may be exaggerating their heights and cutting back on their weights. I think O'Sullivans is probably one of the most accurate.

13 stone is nothing to be honest. if he was 11, there would not be a pick on him.

I notice kerry's stats have changed since last year, Dara 0'Se has grown 3 inches but colm Cooper still only weighs 10 stone.
Dublins heights are all exagerrated alright, no way is Alan Brogan 6'1.

I'd reckon Dooher is 13st. He's got a fair bit of muscle on him. He looks taller than 5'9 though. Brogan is about 6'1 or so

they have philip wallace at 5'11" and having played against him a few times i can tell ya he's defo a few inches taller.....

    Dooher is a short-arse, 5'8, 5'9 max.

As far as I know the players are given forms to fill up with age, weight, height and other details and these are sent out by the PROs.

So it's up to the player himself to judge his weight, height.. etc..

They'd have to be a bit of fun and games here.

No way on this world in Dooher 13 stone - Just not possible

went to college with a number of gaa stars and have met many more in person over the years and their stats seems very legit. weight is next to impossible to pin down accurately, i weigh about 12 stone or just slightly under but when i ask people to estimate my weight they usually say 10 stone or less. take ian rush as an example he weighed over 12 stone but never looked close to it on the pitch

I'd well believe Dooher is 13 stone at 5ft 9.

I could understand players exaggerating their height and cutting down their weight but why would Dooher make himself appear heavier by giving false details?

Some of us in Kerry think he may be a robot, that might explain the extra weight.... all of those metallic bits and pieces....

I've been looking at the stats too and some of them are just wrong.

Funny enough I don't have a problem with Dooher being 13 stone, but Tommy Walsh from Kerry, while a big man, is NOT 6'5" and Dara O'Se while also a superbly built athlete is NOT 6'3". Over the years numerous articles have referred to the fact that at only 6' or 6'1" he is able to outfield bigger men.

I don't think Alan Brogan is 6'1" either.

Muscle weighs more than fat, all football players do weight training these days, but northern teams started before the rest of the country.
Also it is difficult to tell someones weight just by looking at them, there are other factors in play.

I think you may be right - or maybe the first example of sucessful human cloning:):) There simply had to be more than one of him on that pitch on saturday - he was everywhere. Scary:confused:

I always found Dara O'Se's stats amusing. I've seen him posted as 6'1" and 14 stone. I always thought he was taller but if you look at a team phono you can see he isn't that much taller than Marc or Tomas. I'd say he hasn't weighed himself or updated his stats since he was a minor. I saw him in the munster final he looked over 15 and a half stone.

If Shane Ryan is 5'11" and 15 stone 3 then Dara is at least the same weight.

Ryan's stats are amazing really when you consider how mobile he is.

I'd well believe Dooher's stats and I think Tommy Walsh is every inch 6'5".

What is the ideal fighting weight for a gaelic football mid fielder? I reckon the limit is 15 stone if you want to play any sort of mobile role, I see neither of the Tyrone mid fielders last week were over 14 stone. I'm tending to lean more towards the those numbers unless you are 6'5" or more.

13 stone is nothing? If he was a boxer he would be in the heavyweight class. But since he is quite small and thin looking I just can't see that. Can you imagine him in the same weight class as the likes of Mike Tyson and Klitschko?

I went to school with Tommy and he's easily 6'5, he was taller than Darragh O'Se when he was an U-14.

At 182 lbs he'd actually be a Cruiserweight, and considering he wouldn't have to dehydrate himself to make a smaller weightclass for football I'd say he could probably get down to Super-Middleweight at least.

But Super-Middleweights are still big men.

But maybe he would want to put on a bit of extra weight to make the heavyweight class. Currently he looks very thin and doesn't appear to be at his ideal fighting weight if he was a boxer. Also, the heavyweight division is particularly weak at the minute and I think it is just waiting for someone like him to come along and clean up and become the undisputed champion of the world. Thoughts?

as the other poster mentioned 13 stone equals 182lb which is well under the boxing heavyweight limit of 200lb or 14 stone 4 pounds.

tyson in his prime was about 225lb or 16 stone, Wlad Klitschko is 6'6 and 18 stone
