So as it stands Nova and Digitalb are unable to show 3pm kick offs, some say they will return in November I wouldn't hold my breath however. I think we all know who is behind this.

I'd feel particularly aggrieved if I lived in Albania. Paying for a legitimate subscription that hasn't been hacked and the Premier League pull the rug out from under you.

I read a rumour on another forum that the EPL had a get out clause that they could pull the 3pm football for 100k.

ART didn't show their promised 3pm game either. Premiere also didn't have one, though unsure if that is because of FA or other reasons.

I wonder will it make Digitalb consider having cards paired to boxes... they already do it for their HD and MPEG4 SD channels. Or maybe show the game with 30min delay.

There must've been a lot of UK pubs with foreign sports subscriptions, for the FA to intervene in such a way (of course it's quite likely they were pushed by a certain entity).

Still though, people can pick up 3pm games on Thor with C+ Nordic subscription. I am going to have to make do with my DigitAlb card though, as 1W isn't an option at present. Pity the 3pm shenanigans started after I'd renewed my subscription! And I can't understand why they'd be suddenly allowed to show games after 31 November.

The 3pm matches dont really have an effect on Sky's margins as they cant show any 3pm matches anyway.
Might be a ploy to boost attendances at the matches .

It can do, as it can be used as enticer to switch from Sky to another. Like, why pay Sky X amount of money for sports withouth 3pm game (pay Setanta for that if in Ireland = more money) when you could get a cheaper foreign package with 3pm games as added bonus

Ive read all these reports on another forum and it really amazes me that "You know who" can have a say in what other broadcasters can transmit? How can they get away with it? I feel really let down now i renewed my digitalb, Im glad now some of my friends held off as "Things were up in the air" Especially when prices went up.

But why oh why is this Saturday 3pm such a big thing to "Big brother" in the UK? Do they really reckon its going to effect the attendances that much? Perhaps if the money in the game hadn't got out of hand so much and players were on such big money, people would still flock to the terraces. I cant believe how much it costs to go to game now, and not just premiership.

S*Y also have put their subs up and people don't want to pay them. My father and his friends have ditched sky and just gone with Setanta now because you dont have to have all the other channels and pay a stupid amount of money for.

Am i right in saying Sky Sports in Ire is around 53e a month? Compared to Setanta which is 19e a month? Big difference, especially in this day of the big "Credit crunch" Perhaps S*Y should look at their prices and bring in a different system of pricing.

As far as I am concerned the only good thing to come out of S*Y is their EPG on the digibox and perhaps S*Y+ (Again at a cost)!

Tis annoying alright that you just can't subscribe to Sky Sports alone, without having to buy Mixes you don't want.

I'd personally like to get sorted on 1W, though to do so woould mean losing the 4 birds I'm currently on (13E, 16E, 19E, 28E). Due to dish location and obstacles, a motor might not be viable.

1 west though (DigiTV) the sports channels, like Galaxie sport are very weak this side of europe. The canal digital transponders seem quite strong compared. With the weather we have the galaxie sport channel is a no go at the moment. Ive a 1.1m dish and Galaxie sport comes and goes in the rain. Yesterday i was lucky with the weather, But then again yesterday i watched 2 matches on Setanta.

If skysports was available at roughly same price as setanta i would probably subscribe to it. But another 50 odd sheets a month is far to much.

I wish they would offer a pay per match without needing any subscription (even over the internet).
I would like to watch the odd game without having to take out a regular subscription.

It was Canal Nordic I was thinking of. I believe these carry 3pm football.

How would signal from Canal tp's compare to say Supersport on 16E?

That said, doesn't seem too easy getting a viewing card for Canal.

The signal on the canal+ TPS is very strong. They come in here very well on a 1m

theres also a galaxie sport on 19.2 east, more easier to get than the one on 1.west

    On a side note,would a Toroidal T90 pick up 1W in Cork ?

Have 13*/16*/19*/1*W - on a torroidal. Getting Canal +/Telenor no problem - albeit that the finest of tuning and tweaking required at setup.

Yes indeed the main Canal+ transponders that carry sports channels/film channels are infact very strong. Possibly not as strong as 16east reception but not far from it. Cards are expensive alright for canal+ Nordic.

I feel extremely let down by Digitalb this season, not only the the fact the 3pm kick off choice has gone but their broadcasts are terrible quality and not in widescreen. I could of put my 200e to better use.

Hmm, I must look into getting 1W for the craic, but without losing the 4 birds I have. This'll probably mean a SUPER MetalGear Darkmotor :D or a big Toroidal (toroidal concerns me in that I believe it needs a big 3" diameter mast. Might also have to remove half the house in the way, if the extra elevation of 1W isn't enough to clear the roof :)

WRT Digitalb signal quality, it was never good IMO. At least last year, quality wasn't super either, but for the price it was good, and better than web streams.

To be fair, I suppose it's not DigitAlb's fault that they lost 3pm games, though I'd be sure that certain people would've known a bit longer before it was made public/confirmed.
I still think delayed 3pm KO games would be better than nothing until the issue is resolved, if it is ever resolved.

Marconi seems to suggest that there is a legal outing this week (wrt ART's 3pm games).

Premiere seems to be affected too.
    No 3pm game there yet.
Here's hoping Saturday shows some respite.
Hearing ART is back as Magreb or something.
can anybody confirm ? it was the best card ever !!!!!!!
Setanta always seem to show Liverpool or Manu.

1west is nice and high! Only thing is this far west the signal on certain transponders are weak enough to be very effected by our lovely summer weather. I cant rely on having calm conditions to plan an afternoon in front of the TV with my mates for a certain match!

Its a real shame Setanta cant give us ROI viewers a 3pm choice! As pal is right it seems all Liverpool, MAn Utd & arsenal being shown on Setanta.

1 west is an extremely good sat at the min - Digi tv on a Saturday afternoon is superb, Galaxie Sport is averaging 46% for me on an 88cm which is more than enough. Prima showed Everton - Blackburn and that was a truely amazing game. Riveting.

Ok Digitalb - we all know its open with a certain cam so that might have been the main reason for the FA to tip over, even though i'm sure they were annoyed in anyway with the amount of Sub's over here and the Uk - not to mention the Pubs in the UK.

If I can view Digi 'til the 3pms come back in November on Digitalb it wont be that bad, lets hope we get the odd feed like last weekend from the PL too!

Yeah, Showtime Maghreb is a channel on the ART package now. Last weekend it showed the early Saturday, late Saturday, and early & late Sunday games. It also didn't show any 3pm Saturday game.

It's currenlty available on ART Sports card, though some think that soon, you'll need the full ART package to view.

    nice one pal!

it just started to pour down here & i've lost my marginal 1w channels so this on 13e will do the job nicely for the liverpool match @ 3.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,138 ✭✭✭snaps

    what is lider encypted in?

    Not showing soccer anyway!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 32 skycatcher

just come on now - about 14 mins late! but its clear....

    ........and gone again!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,115 ✭✭✭Pal

    Lider scrambled off.
    Premiere had no 3pm match.
And Steven Gerrard hits a late late winner.

can it get any worse ?

At least Celtic was on Polsat.
