Laptop for recording music

I'm planning to get a laptop to record music onto, noting too complicated, just a mic and one other input jack.
But what specs would one recommend for a laptop that was specifically for this purpose of recording music onto? I don't care what else it can do...

any brand new laptop will do it. If u want high quality records u need good mic.

Any external, USB Logitech brand microphone should do you for what you need. Any laptop has more than plenty spec for the task, and for a free recording and editing app Lifehacker.com recently recommended "WavePad" (google that - its free)

What music are you recording? Band? If you want some thoughtful responses of what equipment to buy for that try asking in the Music Produtction Forum

You could also get your hands on one of these: http://www.behringer.com/uca202/index.cfm?lang=eng

Plugs into your USB, and you've got phono in/out built in. Very handy for recording if you've got samplers etc.
