Hey, I picked up two r4 cards for the ds, (http://www.volumerate.com/details.vr/sku.60265) and am just ordering a micro sd card for them. Can anyone tell me nthe diffference between microSD and microSDHC cards??
Do both work on the r4 or whats the deal there?

    Thanks!!

I'm not sure if there's an R4 which supports SDHC yet? They were one of the best cards a while ago, but as everyone says, they're old news now.

Some of the cards which have come out since are far better.

However! I still use an r4 and it runs everything fine. The only reason I'm considering updating is I'd like to be able to use SD above 2gb.

Oh sorry, you asked what the difference is.

SDHC is an update to the SD format. It can support much higher capacities.

I don't think you can get a 4gb microSD, I think they're all SDHC, although under the SD standard it is possible, the r4 can't read the SDHC.

Essentially 2gb is the largest it will work with.

Won't work in an r4 though as it doesn't support SDHC yet.

2gb is the highest you can go with it.

I would be more concerned about whether your R4 is a clone or not.

Basically from what I can see you are told on the site that it is a clone.

Apparently R4DS cards are no longer in production. If stocks are available they are priced at about double the cost of the clone cards.

I bought five R4DS "Advance" cards from volumerate, which I now know I shouldn't have. I'm using 1Gb & 2Gb Kingston cards which intermittently freeze the DS Lite and the microSD loses all info. Investigating the problem as best I can at the moment but looks like I've been shafted.

I but R4 sdhc cards from volumerate regularly, I have used 2gb up to 16gb cards in them with no problems.
I have bought close to 80 cards now without problems.

The only problems i had were when buying the micro sd cards. I bought brand named ones but when they got here the lock button on the sdcard adapter were missing (no big deal i just used my mirco sd card reader)

The R4 have an sdhc version available, if you look at the website you will see them. The one you ordered isn't that version so im sure it will take up to 2gb card.

Also the software needed varies at times, r4ultra.com is the site i use at the minute for my software but i have used two othe sites also.
