Sorry for the new thread if unacceptable, but am just drowning in the length of some of the others.

In short~: what is the deal with the recent upgrades?

Why have 'upgrades' slowed down many (most) peoples broadband service? Is it a booboo from Eircom? Or is it temporary?
Have 3Mb UTV service for the last few years. Quite happy with it: quick page browsing, fine youtube, downloads at 200-300kpb/s. No problems and wasnt looking for any better. Last week connection (supposedly) went from 30xx download to 76xx download - but reality is a severe deterioration in perforance.

WTF has happpened? And when will it be fixed?

Same , too much to look through.

Has anyone heard from eircom when the ping/interleaving problem will be fixed or is it pernament?

A lot of lines won't be able to handle the new speeds, and as such you will have poorer performance that you had at the old speed. If the new one is causing a problem, contact your ISP and tell them. They should drop you back to a slower speed, free of charge too, which should fix it.
