Denis O'Brien Wants More Privatisation

I see that in an article yesterday in the Daily Mail, our "good friend" Denis O'Brien wants many more government entities privatised. (CIE, docks, Dublin bus and so on)

You see, he has the interests of the average man at heart. He wants to reduce costs, and provide a better service to the public.

Wait a minute, is this the same man who made about a 1/4 of a billion from his mobile licence and then done a runner so as not to pay any tax. I assume he wants the same type of deals again, namely massive public assets given away for peanuts to private interests. Not bad work if you can get it.

    He truely has some neck.

A brief summary of public/private parntership deals:

the public pay the costs and the big boys run off with the profits. Great business.

This is where i stopped reading.

This thread is now about breakfast rolls. Is there anyone alive that doesn't like a good breakfast roll?

Until Denis O Brien starts paying taxes in this country, his opinion on how the country should be run should be kept to himself.

Seeing as how 99% of what the government touches goes to sh*t, you'd think the general people would come round to the idea of a little privatisation.
As for him making obscene profits, why the hell else would he be in business? The fact that he's smart enough to be earning that much shows that he knows what he's doing.

Anyway back on topic, you can't beat a breakfast roll really! Those rolls remind that everything will be alright in the world.

Any man can be successful if he has mates in the government who gives him government licences for peanuts.

As for you, I have to laugh. It is your pocket that he has picked and yet you applaud him. Goner.

Makes me chuckle when people defend the fookers who are slowly choking the lifeblood out of the state and laughing, while they enjoy unsackable jobs and generous pensions, for questionable productivity.

Frikken goons in the 3rd level are now looking for more taxpayers money even though they pay themselves astronomical salaries, for poncing around the world on junkets.

He didn't get to where he is by paying his workers well or by putting money in his network. Minimal investement, get a customer base and sell it off.

Yeah we should admire the greedy, tax evading bastid.

Don't worry if you like and admire him that much, he'll be getting more of your money soon as the digital top boxes for RTE are being sold by one of his companies so you'll get your chance to give him more money without the privatisation of the buses.

BTW do you think he'll leave the non-profitable routes running because he is such a decent guy?

Agreed. Anybody who has ever had to put up with the piss poor service provided by CIE/Dublin bus & the glacial rate of change in those organisations would surely welcome a privatisation. Could the service be any worse? The Health service - there's another one the government is doing a bang up job on.

The only thing the government does well is collect taxes. Let them keep that and privatise as much else as possible.

If I were a betting man (I'm not, tis a terrible vice and would ruin me) I'd bet that Denis O'Brien has paid more tax in this country than you. By your logic I guess that means he's more entitled to an opinion than you?

Daily Mail=Left Wing? Although I do remember them being very sympathetic to the Roma kids who drowned in Italy recently. I guess they'll just don any hat to sell a few more rags.

Anyway back on topic i.e. breakfast rolls. This Denis O'Brien chap, is he any relation to O'Brien's sandwiches and do they do breakfast rolls?

I look forward to DUMBOBLONDE's next topic.

Doesn't Denis O'Brien still own large chunks of Irishjobs.ie, Communicorp (Newstalk/98FM etc etc) and Digiweb (probably owns one or two TD's as well:eek:). His companies must be paying a fortune in taxes. Plus he bunged the FAI €1m to pay O'trappatoni's wages.

still, I hear he likes tomato relish in his breakfast roll, a man after me own heart:D
