Have bought different things off ebay before and was nearly always small money. I know from previous stories that when you try to claim from paypal they give you the run around and the worst being that you can only deal with them through email. I was thinking of buying a mtb bike which is in the region of about €700. On the bottom of this ebay listing and other ones I have seen where it has prefered pay options, there is paypal which across from it has Paypal protection upto €1000. So was wondering is this standard protection from paypal or does the seller need an icon up where his rating/user name to denote he is covered by this protection.

Also if something should go pear shape is it still a pain to get your money back through paypal or have they become more profesional about it. I know when you buy something directly with your credit card you can put a hold on the payment with a dispute transaction request if there is a problem. I have seen other people posting saying if they do a paypal transaction with their credit card and it goes t$ts up they dont even bother with paypal and just put the hold on the payment via their CC company. IS this do able since the payment was made to paypal from your CC and paypay are not the ones in dispute. Thanks for any input

I rang my credit card to try and put a payment on hold recently, they said I had to wait for Paypal to try to resolve the dispute

Did your CC give you an indication if paypal could not sort it they would then step in?

Thats something. How long do paypal say it takes, also are they still working on the basis you can only contact them via email for disputes

    Cheers

They say they aim to have it resolved within 30 days

I'm just using the resolution centre on their website, to be honest they seem to be the most retarded company i've ever dealt with

Think you should be alright then as the CC companies give 45 days as far as I know. ITs a shame ebay/paypal drag their feet on this issue and be come so elusive when it comes to things like this as it would make buying on ebay feel a whole lot better
