archos 705 serial number not registering

    i just bought a refurbished archos 705 from lurzentech on ebay.

    all going well (streaming movies from the home network is soo cool) but i want to buy a few plugins - to be able to play h264, video podcasts and maybe the web browser too.

    here's the problem the serial number wont register on the archos site. you can't get any tech support till you register.... catch 22?

    excluding this prob the player really is the absolute dogs. i bought it for my son for a long haul flight, but suspect i may get more than a little use out of it myself :)

    anyone had experience with this kind of thing? and advice?

    Hi,

    I am having the same problem with a 605 wifi from Luzern, I am getting an invalid serial number on the website. I can register my DVR station OK, but not the player itself.

    I have emailed Archos directly to see if they can shed any light on it. Although I reckon the serial number on the sticker is not right at all. The serial number on the box of the DVR station is totally different from the sticker on the physical device.

    Will let you know if I get any update.

    i've been on to both archos phone support and lurzen by email

    put a CA infront of the serial number on the 605 /705 and it'll accept the serial no.

    my problem now is that the product number is saying already registered

    have had to email webmaster@archos.com to resolve this

    I have not heard back from them either as yet. I tried the CA thing and it worked fine.

    Will let you know if I hear anything back from them.

    i rang the archos Hotline : 01 601 5700 today
    and explained that i was trying to give their company money
    and WTF was the reason they were ignoring my emails!!!
    had an email back an hour later problem sorted
    i did mention i wasn't the only one who didn't hear back, but if you haven't getten sorted ring the helpline

    I had similar with an Archos 605 with just a number serial number (both on the box and machine)

    I phoned Archos (Archos Technical Support on 0207 949 0115 ) and explained

    They suggested inserting CR in front of the numbers so CR07160xxxx
    It worked
    I have since bought the web plug in ...... and installed it and it works - no I know its ok now[/FONT][/COLOR]
    hope this helps
    ps - kills me to pay £20 to unlock the browser already loaded, but I must say its quite a nice browser and works well
