Did anyone purchase the recent Aldi Medion computer offer on 3rd August.
If so I would be interested in your comments on this PC.
Its the desktop PC that was on special at €599. Its the MEDION AKOYA P34592 (MD 8393) Multimedia/Entertainment PC.
Any comments on the quality of this PC or what is the 36 month warrenty worth in real terms.?
    Thanks for any reviews

in real terms the warranty protects you from defects in the manufacture build and purchase of your machine. it doesnt protect against user neglect. 36 months is good: hardware tend to begin dying of natural causes by then (hard disk failures, graphic card strangeness) so its always good to have that protected against.

Cant go wrong with medion in my experience, but i dont know what PC youre referring to.

Thank you for the reply. I am trying to decide between Dell Outlet XPS420
or the latest machine Aldi had on offer which had reasonbaly good specs.
They are still available in some stores or were up to two days ago.

I have had my Dell Dimensions 8200 for 6 years and not one problem.
They seem to be very well constructed with good components and then
after sales service is at least nearby.
    Below are Spec for MEDION® AKOYA® P34592 (MD 8393)
    Thanks again.

    Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium
    Phenomenal performance - Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q6600
    Massive - 3072 MB DDR2 SDRAM
    NVIDIA® GEFORCE® 9500 GS graphics with HDMI
    connection & 512 MB memory
Huge 500 GB SATA hard disk
TV tuner for DVB-S, DVB-T and analogue TV
High Speed Wireless LAN 802.11n Draft

seems a champ at that price and warranty to me. youll be hard pressed to push a quad core to its performance limitations

Seems like good value at €600, only thing I can see thats weak is the video card but if you have no interest in gaming its a decent spec for the price ;)

I bought that pc a few weeks ago. Have had a few problems mostly because I'm not like you guys and am a bit of an eejit. We needed to take our modem out of old dell and put in this one as only has network card and had problems due to the xp driver being installed caused blue screen but once windows update downloaded updated driver, all was well. I like it well enough. MS office on it is only a trial fr 60 days I think and the virus software is Bullguard installed for 90 day trial if any of that is an issue to you.

Again, as I'm not a computer head, I can't really comment and don't use for games stuff but apart from the problems I've caused by messing around where I shouldn't have been, its been grand.

Has anyone here tried to install Win XP on such computer? (comes with Vista, but I would like a better performance).

I read, that XP should go with a Core2 Quad, but I failed the installation process (had a blue screen throughout loading files for installation)

My XP is a SP2 Home Edition.
