    Did anybody complete this diploma?
    Was the funds section detailed?
    Were any text books/guides recommended?

    Thanks

To be honest, I wouldn't bother with it. At best, it skims over a broad area of law.

If you're interested in Funds, I think that there are particular courses organised by some industry organisations, possibly based in the IFSC.

Should say - I did the diploma about 5 years ago, maybe it's improved, but being the Law Society, I wouldn't bet on it.

I did the 08-09 year in Family Law Excellent course BUT it's taught AT you [if you get my drift] there are no assessments along the way no assignments what so ever, nothing until the very academic 3 hour exam at the end, set by the co-ordinator who tells you he is very mathematically minded and that all his papers are set like a maths formula! If you like this kind of teaching/learning go for it you will definately get a good education from some excellently experienced speakers but personally I'd go for the independant colleges courses instead if I had known sooner as it uses continuous asessment and is way cheaper. No diploma should be as hard as the one I did. Then again, I dont come from a legal background so was at a disadvantage from the get go. The lingo and Latin is non comprehensible to me not to mention the court system which I had to learn from scratch. I barely scraped through it. The law society is also way more expensive than independant colleges, something to think about. I know that getting a piece of paper from the Law Society obviously carries kudos in the legal world but if you're not bothered about that go with independant colleges.ie. Take a look at their prospectus before you commit to splashing out over €2000 for 6 months course.
