Got faulty Thompson HD box replaced with a new one, they couldn't repair the old one. Sent the card with the box, but they lost it. Sky have now to send me a new card which I should get next week.

Switched on the box anyway and have the English EPG. Will this automatically change to the Irish EPG when I get the card?

Thanks. Would've been nice to keep the bbcs/itvs etc.

    Tune them into Other Channels.

Yep, that's the way I had it on the old box, which was Irish EPG from the start. Was thinking if I could keep the English EPG I could put the BBCs/ITVs on the favourites list. No biggie.

Not possible unless you instert a UK card into the box. Otherwise the Irish card you get from Sky will turn it into an Irish EPG.

Just borrowed an Irish card. Inserted and powered box off/on. Still on English EPG.

When I get my new card from Sky I assume I will have to contact Setanta to get my account married to the new card. Would they do it twice, i.e., once tomorrow for this borrowed card and again next week for the new card? Want to see the live football tomorrow.

Setanta does not need to be married to a box. It will work on any box.

Married to the card, I'm saying. Is that how they manage the subscription, by the viewing card? If so, I'll need to contact Setanta when I get my new card.

I doubt they would change the account between viewing cards.

Yes, the card, not the box is the key.

Do you mean you can't see them changing the account to my new Sky card when it comes, never mind the borrowed one? I'll be calling them anyway.

They put the subscription on whatever card you first mention. If you mention a card, then they will not send a new one.

The only way to get a subscription moved is to claim "dog ate card" or whatever. Old card will be killed/die and all subs will be on new card.

If you HAVE a Sky sub and wanted a card for a second box, then mentioning an existing sub will ensure that they will claim they can't send a new card. They will want to add sub to existing Sky sub/card.

If you contact Setanta and want a new card for a different box or whatever reason, you can't mention any existing sky cards/subscriptions at all. I begin to perhaps see the light on a different thread...

Thanks Watty. Sorry for stringing this out, but what you say here means it should work out ok for me? I have just one box, one (replacement) Irish Sky card. I don't see why there should be any problem is saying to Setanta:

Me: "Hi, got new card, can you enable it for my subscription that I've had with you for past year, please?"
    Setanta: "What's the card number?"
    Me: gives number.
Setanta: "Ok, that'll take about 20mins, perhaps up to 4 hours."
    Me: "Thanks very much."
Setanta: "No problem, anything else we can help you with?".
Me: "No thanks, that's great. Bye."
    Setanta: "Bye".

Perhaps they'll make me cancel my existing sub and take out a new one.
