    Hi
I'm trying to sign on for the dole now. I jsut have a few questions if thats ok? I looked and looked on the internet and couldnt find the answers.

The nearest place social welfare office to me is in Clondalkin, but I live in Lucan. I'd have to get a bus into town and then out to Clondalkin. Do I have to pick up my payemnts in Clondalkin or can I pick them up somehwere in towm or lucan it would be much easier that way?

What does "signing on" consist of? Do you have to do it everyweek yes?

Thanks in advance for your help

I think you will have to head to the Clondalkin Office to sign, but you can nominate your closet post office to collect payments so whichever is handliest for you, be it in Lucan or in the city centre.

Sign on means that you go to the office and declare to the officer that you are unemployed. Once you have all relevant documents with you, you only need to return once a month to sign on.

Do you know what you have to bring with you? Make sure you have all the documents, and then you won't have to return to Clondalkin until the signing date a month later.

    Hope this helps.

Here is a link to local post finder http://locator.anpost.ie/locator_counties.asp?county=Dublin

When you will be in Social Welfare center, they will ask you which post office you want to go so have a name and adress of this post office with you.

Depending on the part of Lucan you're in, you can take a bus to Liffey Valley then out to Clondalkin. Or better yet, the 151 goes to the same road as the Dole office.

I know this thread is ages old, but I'm looking to sign on now myself. I've had a few good job leads but I understand this process can take weeks or months, and I came here looking for buses to take to Clondalkin Social Welfare Office
