Sorry if this is old news, but I just saw it. It's already the tallest man-made structure in the world and it isn't even finished. $4.1 billion price tag too:eek:

    More amazing photos here.

Hopefully peat bog will be identified as a requirement for cold fusion energy production or something in the future and then the worlds wealth will flow into our coffers at €1.25 a litre!! Then we can build something in meath to beat the burj.

dam, I feel dizzy looking at that. Imagine having to operate the crane, wonder if they'll provide you with a parachute in case it collapses :P

There's no future in oil. Nice tower though.

It kinda reminds me of the citadel in City 17 in Half-life 2.

    Construction costs are rising.
Using grav guns instead of cranes and humanoids instead of construction workers could cut construction costs :pac:

just looking at their news posts, it's been scaled back to 700meters also they quote it as only costing 800 million dollars

    "Construction Data
    Cost: US$800,000,000.00
    Developer: Emaar Properties
Designed by: Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill
    Type: Skyscraper
Location: No. 1, Burj Dubai Boulevard, Dubai, United Arab Emirates"

I'd be pretty pissed if I was told it'd cost 800million and then getting a bill for 4.1billion. Maybe they're missing a zero. Think what the rent must be like :P

Blimey. I've never seen this before. I assumed you were just talking about the Burj Al Arab.

I wonder when the first apocalypse movie with a meteor shower crashing through this thing will be?
