I'm wondering about Agents & Managers (respectively)...

Whats the craic.. do you take them on, or do they take you on?
How does it work? (im aware i possibly know this answer, but im just really confused today :o)

Do they say "yes we will take you on as a client" or
do you say "i want you to represent me"...
Guess i men, do they decide they want you or do you kinda choose them and they work for you... (am i making sense? )

thoughts please... and thanks of course ;)

Do not confuse Agents with Managers. One books you, the other manages you. Huge difference.

i know this... sorry, not very clear i guess.
If i ring up an Agency, do i have the choice to hire them... or do they hire you...? thats what i mean. Is the choice theirs or mine?
    who has the power? :pac:
    (im really scatty today sorry)

Agents just book or contract you for a given date. They rarely give a toss about what kind of state your act is in, they have no interest in you other than to book you for an engagement. Most don't 'employ' you, but secure your services as a subcontractor which means you are a separate entity when it comes to tax etc.

Managers...well the answer is in the name.

    hmmmm. ok.
I woulda thought they'd have to actually at least like what you do... how can you "sell" something you dont believe in?

Perhaps thats where there may be variations between agents (well you'd hope).
