    Lenovo ThinkPad W700 for photographers
Tuesday, 12 August 2008 12:00 GMT< Previous Next > Lenovo has released the ThinkPad W700 laptop aimed at photographers and designers, offering a built-in graphics tablet and color calibrator. What’s more, the display displays 72% of the possible color gamut of the Adobe RGB color space whereas most normal laptop displays can only show 45% (though new panel technologies becoming available allow up to 100% coverage).

This 17-inch widescreen mobile workstation is bundled with the new Nvidia Quadro FX 2700M and 3700M Open GL graphics processors with up to 1GB of video memory. It also features up to 8GB of high speed DDR3 memory, optional dual hard drives with RAID configurations, a 7-in-1 built-in card reader, a range of wireless connectivity options and multimedia capabilities including an optional Blu-ray DVD burner/player.

lol for photographers who dont need to move from place to place maybe
but at just under 4kg and size of 30cm-40cm its not going to fit into many bags

Oh and Mr. smellthglove just bought me a new laptop. I wonder how much this will cost! Could I convince him to buy another? Likelihood = 0

    Sounds good.

Lenovo make a good solid machine, but the payoff comes in the additional weight.
Still though, they're reliable & have good performance.

That thing is far to big to fit into most laptop compartments in a normal bag,Id just go for something small like a dell xps, quick small and quiet good value

i would not suggest a laptop for a main machine for any serious photographer.

if you need something for on location, then the final editing will normally be done somewhere else

apart from the press guys i guess.

lots of laptops these days have the most silly things on them for photographers, things like auto brightness etc. i have seen soooo many photogs with this still turned on, and i dont just mean hobbyists, i am talking about serious press guys
