I want to upgrade the hard drive on my macbook at the moment but I'm afraid this will void my warranty.

Has anyone done this and kept their warranty

    Thanks

    afaik in a nutshell.

voids the waranty on a macbook pro.
doesn't void the warranty on macbook.

Just remember to get a 2.5" SATA drive (not 3.5"), 9.5mm max height, and an external enclosure for your current internal.

And spare a thought for us poor MBP owners ;)

I would think that you can't tinker with the internal parts and keep you warranty.. Give them a call.

Never had an issue bringing back a mac so long as the part you tinkered with isnt the cause of the issue...

At least the drive is an easy 20 min install ... not like the ibook !

I also have applecare protection and as you can imagine I don't want to void this

The HDD is a user-replaceable part on the MacBook, Apple even provide instructions. Will not void the warranty or AppleCare.

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.
