Trouble with eSATA

I recently bought the Fantec MR-35DUS2 and put two 1 TB Samsung f1 Spinpoint's in it. The device works fine with the USB connection but the SATA controller of my motherboard doesn't recognise it when I use the eSATA connection. It won't boot to windows and says there is a hardware problem. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H and i'm using the built in eSATA port (not the SATA - eSATA expansion slot adaptor provided by Fantec). My BIOS version is F2, the latest is F5.

Could flashing the BIOS fix the problem? Or would using the SATA - eSATA expansion slot adaptor make a difference? I'm putting off trying these things as it's a HTPC and does not have a floppy drive to flash the BIOS or a free expansion slot.

You may have to upgrade your bios alright. According to the manual you can use Q-Flash or @BIOS (pg. 66) so dont need floppy.

From Integrated Peripheral settings in the Bios ( page 43 ) see if On Chip SATA Type is set to AHCI and On Chip SATA Port4/5 Mode set to as SATA Type. See enclosed file.

I didn't see an option to turn it on/off, but I'll double check when i get home.
