Server 2003 wallpaper not showing up remotely

    Hello...!

I am logging onto a windows 2003 server remotely, but the default wallpaper isn't showing up and the options to change it are greyed out. There must be a setting somewhere...

It's not a domain controller, it's a file server. The domain controller is W2K.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Sound like the remote desktop client is disabling it automatically. When you open the client (before you log on), go into options > Experience and set your connection speed to LAN.

Your mileage may vary as I'm on Vista.

Afaik if you don't specify the connection speed, it will auto-detect the speed for best performance.

In all my times using Remote Desktop I never once noticed that button!

Unfortunately didn't make a difference though. I connect to W2K machines remotely and their wallpapers show up no problem, so it must be a 2003 thing?

Nope, I'm RDP'ed to a 2003 machine right now and I can see its wallpaper.

Perhaps wallpaper has been disabled in the Machine's Local Policy (or even in Group Policy)?

Yeah, no by a 2003 thing I meant it probably comes disabled by default. I'll have a dig about in local policy so...

    Thanks! :)

i work with remote desktop alot and this is one feature i love. NOT SEEING CUSTOMERS DESKTOPS PICTURES.

i use other things like pcanywhere and vnc also and the things people put on there just amazes me sometimes.

i dont actually know where its configured but it must be disabled by default.
