Quick Taxi Question

Brother is stranded in the Airport after Ryanair made him pay extra money to check in (turns out he couldn't checkin online since he's not 18 yet.)

Anyway, poor bugger is starving and has no money at all so he can't get the aircoach home.

I was wondering how much would a taxi cost from the Dublin Airport to Leopardstown (Where I work) I don't have a load of money so if it's going to be 50 euro I can't pay it, but if it's something like 30 I should be fine.

Anyway, guy is a boardsie so help him out and guesstimate the taxi cost ;)

    Thank so much.

Ask your brother to ask the taximan, tell him that he only has 30 at home so will that be ok?

It may be a little bit more, but the taxi driver could do it off the meter?

Well I'm a bit strapped really, had my bed break (the cost of beds is insane) and I don't get my money till the end of the month, thanks anyway, will try to convince people for a lend.

That'd be the guts of 45 quid I'd reckon.

I've phoned up aer rianta (yeah that long ago) and the lady at the info desk was able to sort out a free bus ticket home for a mate who was stuck one time.

Normally people who work those desks are sound and will help ya out.
    Good luck

Sandyford will probably work out at somewhere between 40-60 (there are extra airport pickup charges, 2 euro for everything he is carrying, toll-charge on the M50 etc etc- it all adds up :()

If you have PayPal, you could pay someone here to pay for his taxi to their place and lend him the cash to get to you.

I've a 1.9 TDi with an 80 litre extended touring tank (its the Volvo V40 lux sports). On a long journey not driving too heavily- I average about 38MPG.

Distance from Dublin 2 to the Docks in Galway (Bothar na Long) is listed by the AA as 230.33km- which is 143 miles give or take (or 285 return).

    285 / 38 = 7.5 * 4.55 = 34.125 litres of fuel @ 1.4 a litre EUR47.78

So- you can do it for under EUR50 in fuel (of course you have the toll to pay too, and probably kids or a wife who'll insist on a pitstop in Athlone?)

Hmmm- I'm surprised. And obviously I've too much time on my hands this morning....... Wish I were out of here......

There is no additional charge for being picked up at the airport and no additional charge for luggage. The only extra charges are €1 for every additional passenger after the hirer and €2 for booking a taxi.
Do not use the M50 when traveling from Dublin Airport to Sandyford. It is a much longer distance than going through town.
