I had over 150 GB of data on my HDD and I recently had to reinstall Vista on my PC, however the HDD is still missing the 150 GB (mainly games). How do I "refresh the HDD" so that I have the capacity back again. Thanks

I think you may have formatted your pc. If that is the case the data is gone in the sense that you wont be able to get your games back without reinstalling them.

Does your pc has the same amount of free space as when you reinstalled Vista?

    Thanks for the reply -

All I want back is the missing Capacity - The games are gone, however the space on the HDD is still being taken up by something. I click show hidden files but none of them account for the huge capacity missing.

    • I defragged
    • I did a Disk Cleanup
    • An of course emptied the Bin

If you installed windows over an older windows installation without formatting all your files should be in a folder cald 'old windows', 'windows old' or something like that. You can recover your save games and other files but you will need to install the actual programs afresh.

Trail and error has again resolved the issue - The missing capacity was due to System Restore and Shadow Copies, I performed a Cleanup and I suddenly have all of the missing HDD area back.
