    The surfboard one has potential.

The others are a little blurred to say the least. WHat camera are you using? Ideally you don't want to be taking pictures of something from a moving car. Try pulling over and getting closer to the subject :)

The quality of the images looks quite low & there is a fair bit of chromatic aberration evident. What sort of Camera & Lens are you using?

I like the composition of images 6 & 7. They show potential for looking for a different angle & creating interest.

The quality is too low to discuss it any further, imho.

They're taken with a mobile phone surely?

I wasn't sure if they were taking the piss actually!!!

Im assuming they were taken on an older digi cam using didgital zoom,if they were dont y
use it!I know it gets you closer but they wreck image quaility and reduce the megapixels of your camera so you can barely get decent 6x4's out of them

6 & 7 and the nicest but the cross in out of focus not bad for a beginner i supose

You're beginning to get the basics right, but you've got to keep on taking photos. As has been said, the quality is quite poor, but it shows your composition - 6 and 7 are the best of the lot.

Remember to get a bit closer to your subject - moving buses and cars won't help unfortunatly! If you're interested, would you consider upgrading the camera though? The investment could be well worth it :)

The quality is quite poor - what camera are you using? they really do look like a mobiel phone.

If you ever find a photo looks bland and colourless a simple trick is to convert it to black and white and push contrast, you can be really surprised at the results

Start with your focus, be as still as you can, as close as you can, and pick a decent autofocus point if you have that function

Same as the others have commented!
What Camera (don't use digi zoom)
    #6 is best too.

    That's quite harsh. Give the guy a break, he's a self-described n00b...

This thread is full of fail. You shouldn't have felt pressured into taking your pix down OP. We all start somewhere, even if some people like to think they became Ansel Adams overnight:rolleyes:

images should never have been removed !

Why not take them down? I expected to be taken at face value and get constructive crit and advice but thank you Caban Sail for the pms and advice. Sure the photos aren't of the standard here but that is why I put newbie in title rather than professional photog seeks advice on how to photoshop these.

Ballyman thanks for the alpology but when a newbie posts with "c&c and advice welcome" written down they are looking for help, pity you didnt recognise that then. But thank you for telling me not to be afraid to ask for help after the 'help and advice' I received, this will be the first place I come lol:D only joking all help will be gratefully received cause thats how I need to learn

BanzaiBk, I didnt feel pressurised to take them down just felt that I got all I was going to get and I was more interested in comment about the composition/theme but after about 150 or so views all was said that was going to be and as they say in the movies "Stay down Stay down" :)

I used a Sony HDD handicam was curious to see if I could get anything good from it whereas I used to use an Olympus 110 SLR non digital and enjoyed it, nice weight to the camera but havent used it in a number of years as everything has gone digital. Think I will go back to using it and put some photos up here with it eventually for some c&c for photos taken with proper camera:)

But if you really want to see an example of what the pros had to put up with look to bottom of page 52 of random photo thread as unfortunately I cant delete there . Anyhows that was one of the photos put here for c&c and it was taken from a moving tourist bus in Paris not ideal granted but I couldn't get off the bus without causing an accidentas it wasn't stopping.

So thanks y'all for the welcome and help be seeing ye around these parts when I get me a durn proper camera:)

Oooo use the SLR!! Very difficult to get decent stills from a digicam unless you have top of the range, and even then, not easy. I learned the basics on film. Expensive but you can get processing and disc only instead of prints which makes it a little less pricey. I paid 10.50 for a 36 roll with 18meg each TIFF scans there last week. You can get lower res ones a lot cheaper.

I looked at your original shots but didn't have time to respond at the time. You've gotten some good feedback here, and I'll add to it by saying to take your time and watch EVERYTHING that's in the frame - the camera doesn't select the point of focus the way our eye does so try to keep that in mind.

    :)

    :)

sorry off topic, but where do you get your c41 scanned ?

Was b&w actually - not sure if that makes a difference on the price but in my experience its usually more expensive for B&W..

Camera exchange on Georges Street. Ask for high-res Tiff. You might want to ask for a price at the time too - I could be way off the mark here but I got the impression it wasn't fixed?
